The 24th annual Christian Heritage Week is November 4-10! Below is the text of the proclamation, as well as additional information.

Whereas, This nation was founded on principles of religious freedom and our founding fathers sought God, his blessings and guidance as they established the United States of America as a free and independent nation; and,

Whereas, The Christian heritage of our nation is recognized in the writings and accomplishments of such renowned individuals as Christopher Columbus, William Bradford, George Washington, John and Abigail Adams, James Madison, Patrick Henry, Andrew Jackson, Abraham Lincoln, Woodrow Wilson, Harry S. Truman, Dwight D. Eisenhower, and countless others, and in the constitutions of the several sovereign states and innumerable public documents; and,

Whereas, Christian Heritage provides our citizens with an opportunity to acknowledge blessings, to contemplate and offer solutions to the numerous challenges society faces, and to be rededicated to our nation’s spiritual ancestry; and

Whereas, The influence of Christianity upon American communities is evident by the presence of many churches, Christian charities, ministries, missions, schools, and holiday seasons;

Now, Therefore, I, Dennis Daugaard, Governor of the state of South Dakota, do hereby proclaim the week of November 4 – 10, 2018, as the 24th annual Christian Heritage Week in South Dakota.”
